Nappanee youth shooting event teaches ‘gun safety first and foremost’

NAPPANEE – The scent of gunpowder and rain filled the air Saturday morning during the third annual youth skeet shooting event at the Nappanee Conservation Club. The Elkhart County branch of Pheasants Forever helped sponsor the event. “It is important to me that kids know gun safety,” Kenny Yoder, treasurer at the Nappanee Conservation Club, said.

Follow these three recommendations to keep young people safe when hunting or on a range:

  • Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  • Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  • Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Let\'s discuss.
