Parents of son who shot himself push for gun reform in obituary

A Vermont family says they believe their son’s death could have been prevented if a cooling-off period was attached to gun purchases. WPTZ’s Renee Wunderlich reports.

“In honor of Andrew R. Black, we ask that you work for legislation that imposes a reasonable waiting period between firearm purchase and possession to provide a cooling off period to guard against impulsive acts of violence.” That’s what the parents of Andrew, who took his own life with a gun he bought only hours before, wrote in his obituary.
